POD

Prepare yourselves for a mind-bending journey into the enigmatic depths of “POD”! Nestled away in the serene wilderness of Maine lies Martin’s secluded lake house, the perfect backdrop for our mysterious tale.

Here’s the lowdown: Martin, our protagonist, is out for a leisurely stroll in the woods, soaking up the tranquil Maine vibes, when his trusty canine companion takes off like a bolt of lightning, only to transform its bark into an otherworldly squeal. Naturally, Martin’s curiosity kicks in, and he investigates with all the grace of a seasoned detective. He fires a shot into the trees, but alas, dear viewers, we’re left in suspense, not privy to the mysterious quarry he’s bagged.

Enter Ed, Martin’s concerned brother, who receives an enigmatic, cryptic voicemail from Marty, setting the wheels of intrigue into motion. Ed decides to embark on a visit to his remote abode, accompanied by the ever-so-delightful and irksome sister, Lyla. As they arrive, they’re met with Martin’s erratic behavior, the man appearing spooked and claiming to have captured a peculiar “entity” in the basement.

Now, hold onto your hats, because Ed and Lyla aren’t entirely convinced that Martin hasn’t just taken another detour into the labyrinth of his previous mental escapades. Martin, in classic over-the-top fashion, spends his screen time unleashing a torrent of overacting, as if channeling the quirkiest moments of your favorite ’80s characters, all while weaving a web of conspiracy theories involving shadowy government experiments.

Ladies and gentlemen, let’s be honest here – “POD” is an enigmatic rollercoaster ride you won’t want to miss. With a brisk 76-minute runtime, it mercifully doesn’t overstay its welcome. While the peculiar entity in the basement may not win any awards, we do have to give credit where it’s due for the film’s stunning snowy location – a true visual treat for the discerning eye.
